Insurance Policy Document is a reference document that contains important information such as your sum assured, your original premium payment amount, your policy term, and more.

This is one of the most important documents pertaining to your life insurance plan. Hence, the first thing you need to do after buying an insurance plan is to download your life insurance policy statement.

If you have purchased an insurance policy with Edelweiss Life Insurance, then you can easily get a hold of your policy statement via our website. Let’s go through the steps you need to follow to download your life insurance policy statement.

Download Your Edelweiss Life Insurance Policy Statement Today!

  1. First open the Edelweiss Life website and log-in to your customer account. You can log-in by clicking on the ‘man shaped’ icon on the top right corner of the page. Clicking on the icon will open two options, ‘Customer Login’ and Partner Login’.

  2. Click on Customer Login to be redirected to the log-in page. On this page, you need to enter your policy number, email address, or registered mobile number; followed by your date of birth.

  3. After entering these details, you will receive an OTP on your registered contact number. Enter this OTP to complete the log-in process.

  4. Once you successfully log-in, you will be taken to your profile page. Your profile page contains every single important detail that is relevant to your policy.

  5. On this page, open the E-Statement dropdown. Here you will find an option to download your policy document.

  6. Click on the ‘Policy Document’ option, and then enter your policy number to receive a copy of your policy on your registered email address.

  7. You can also view/download other important documents such as your premium paid certificate, premium receipts, and fund statement.

Important Details on Your Policy Statement

  • Your Premium Amount & Frequency: Your policy statement will clearly state your annualized premium amount, which is the total amount of premium you have to pay within a year.

  • Your Sum Assured: The sum assured is the minimum amount of money your beneficiaries will get upon your death. Note that sum assured is not the same as the death benefit itself. Death benefit will be equal to your sum assured plus other bonuses.

  • Your Policy Term: The validity period of your policy. Your policy life cover will stop once the policy term comes to an end.

  • Details of Your Other Benefits/Riders if Any: Your policy statement will also include information about your other plan benefits (if you have chosen any). Moreover, the cost of including these option benefits/riders will also be mentioned.

  • Details of Your Bonuses/Returns if Any: If your policy is an income plan, ULIP, or participating plan, then you’ll be eligible to receive certain returns. These returns may be paid during the term (survival benefits) or at the end of the term (maturity benefits). Details regarding your returns will also be clearly mentioned in your policy statement. Moreover, if your policy is a guaranteed returns plan, then your rate of returns will also be disclosed in the document.

Other Details You Can View on Edelweiss Life Website

Payment Receipt: A record of all premiums paid. Download this record to have a clear account of your insurance payments. This receipt can also be used to claim tax deductions under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act.

Fund Statement: The performance of your ULIP funds, and details about the funds you’re currently invested in. Based on your fund statement, you can judge whether your funds are performing well or not. If a certain fund is underperforming, then you can consider switching your units from that fund to another, better performing, fund.

Status of Claim: The Claim Tracking function allows you to check the current status of your policy claim. If you’re a beneficiary and have initiated a claim, then this is the page that you need to check regularly.

Conclusion

Keeping a digital copy of your policy statement is a wise idea. This digital copy can act as a reliable backup in case anything happens to your physical one. This document will also come in handy if you want to quickly check your plan details, policy maturity date, and the value of your sum assured.
