To be an athlete in the Indian contingent is a big deal. They are our representatives on the global scale. Their skills and participation are reflections of the respect do us, as a country, give sports. It is a great honor to be chosen amongst thousands of athletes to represent your country on a global scale. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is one such organization that plays a pivotal role in selecting these athletes, grooming them, providing them with world-class training and making sure they are in perfect comfort at all times.
Edelweiss Life Insurance has always been at the forefront of nurturing our athletes and providing them with the best possible resources. Edelweiss has also taken a keen interest in empowering female athletes. With this in mind, Edelweiss contributed to Olympic Gold Quest which aspires to bring the limelight on female athletes and to give them the necessary tools to take their talents to the world stage.
Being an athlete is not only an enormous responsibility, but it is also a dangerous endeavor. Their careers hang on the thread of peak physical fitness, and a single injury could threaten their career and ruin their chances of pursuing their dream. Hence, a good life insurance cover gives our athletes the confidence to give their best.
Last year, Edelweiss worked with IOA and provided a life insurance cover of Rs. 1 crore for all the athletes who represented India at the Rio Olympics. This marked the streak of the fruitful partnership between IOA and Edelweiss. This partnership has also extended to the Asian Games 2018 and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
This year, Edelweiss announced that they will be sponsoring the 225 strong Indian athletes at the Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Cost and will also be providing every Indian athlete with a life cover of Rs. 50 lakh. The Indian team will be participating in over 17 different events. The campaign #BeUnlimited is a toast to our athletes that applauds their invincible spirit. This campaign also led to the making of four films starring athletes that have been aired in theatres across India.
It is vital that the private sector also collaborates with the Indian government to bring about more passion and knowledge about sports amongst the people. Edelweiss has pledged the vow to provide our athletes to give them the complete backing to achieve success. Here’s to our athletes, go #TeamIndia!
