Mumbai, June 19, 2023: Driven by an employee-centric and growth-oriented culture, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance has ranked #38 among India’s Best Companies To Work For in India 2023, up 13 positions from last year. It has also secured a spot among Best Workplaces in Life Insurance India 2023.
This is the 4th recognition that Great Place To Work Institute has bestowed on the life insurer since the start of 2023. Earlier this year, the life insurer was recertified as a Great Place To Work for third time in a row, inducted among the inaugural edition of Best Workplaces in Building a Culture of Innovation by All, and has also found a place among Top 25 India’s Best Workplaces in BFSI 2023.
Vikas Bansal, Chief Human Resource Officer, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance said, “We want to be an organization that not only focusses on business outcomes, but also is invested in enabling the personal growth of our employees. And that’s the culture we are trying to build. We want our employees to enjoy coming to work and remember that we are all collectively striving to fulfil a single-minded purpose – protecting people’s dreams and aspirations. A people-focused culture complemented by a strong purpose automatically makes the business outcomes happens.”
Under the aegis of its Employee Value Proposition Edge, Edelweiss Tokio Life has placed a higher emphasis on nurturing potential leaders and building a diverse as well as inclusive representation within the organization over the past year. Over the past 3 years, the company has been able to improve its female representation to 30% in 2023 from 26% in 2020. The company has trained 225 employees through their marquee training programmes called Business Leaders, Young Leaders, and Women Leadership Programme over the last 4 years.
The company has also made significant strides towards inclusion, especially towards promoting gender neutrality in its People policies. For instance, the company has changed its Parental policy to include a paternal leave for 4 weeks, among the best in the insurance industry. It has introduced multiple measures to support new parents including setting up of counselling services and other resource groups within the organization. The insurer has also focused on transforming its function by finding automation opportunities to simplify experience across an employee’s life journey within the organization.
“Life Insurance sector is likely to undergo significant changes in years to come given India’s massive market potential. Be it advisory, distribution, or operations, every aspect of Life Insurance will need transformation over the next decade to keep pace with the changing customer expectations and People are the biggest pre-requisite to make any of it happen. We are confident that our culture of People centricity will create big dividends for us in the longer term,” Bansal added.
The life insurer has created a longer-term roadmap for nurturing leadership based on merit within the organization.
